DESCRIPTION:When Roger Glover heard Dewolff playing\, he thought he was hearing his own band Deep Purple’s Mark II unloading on stage. A similar thing happened to Seasick Steve\, who claimed to have woken up backstage at a festival hearing them play\, thinking he had traveled back in time and was hearing the Allman Brothers play in 1972. \nBut what they both really heard was Dewolff\, a young\, electrified Dutch trio led by a powerful Hammond organ.  Keyboardist Robin Piso and the brothers Luka (drums and backing vocals) and Pablo (vocals and guitar) Van de Poel are energetic and virtuoso musicians with a free and unrestrained spirit. A group of teenagers who formed a band in the south of Holland\, and who hardly passed their twenties\, have already made history in Dutch rock and opened a path all over Europe with their mix of blues rock with touches of soul and psychedelia\, having released 8 studio albums\, 2 EP’s\, three live albums (one of them accompanied by the amazing Metropolo Orkest)\, which have earned them an Edison Award (Dutch version of The Mercury Music Prize)\, a Dutch Grammy and a Buma Award.  As well as having played live with artists such as The Black Keys\, Blues Pills\, Wolfmother and Deep Purple themselves. And you only need to watch two minutes of a Dewolff concert to understand that the music of the golden age of rock still takes place in the 21st century.

DESCRIPTION:– Actes 10è aniversari Girona Marxing Band –\nWhere did the New Orleans brass band tradition come from and how has it influenced modern brass bands? What is a second line and what social function does it have? What is your most common repertoire and how is it played? What are the basic characteristics of improvisation in this style? \n\n\n\n\nThese are some of the questions we will try to answer and develop in this brass band workshop taught by Álvar Monfort and Albert Costa\, founders of Hip Horns Brass Collective. \nIn this workshop we will work with a “classic” modern brass band formation such as Rebirth Brass Band or Hot 8 Brass Band: trumpets\, trombones\, sousaphone\, bass drum and snare drum. We will study and play a repertoire made up of some of the best-known songs of these two brass bands\, such as Feel Like Funkin’ It Up\, What’s My Name or Do Watcha Wanna. \nThis workshop is part of the celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Girona Marxing Band\, a pedagogical project of the La Moderna music and performing arts school.

Tina Turner has become an icon of women’s liberation through her extraordinary musical career and her personal story of overcoming. Her life and work have been inspirational for many women\, especially those who have experienced domestic violence and fought for their independence. \nThe Black Music Big Band wants to pay its particular tribute to Tina Turner by bringing the songs from her repertoire to the big band format. A musical journey from the beginning of the 60s where soul will be the protagonist until the 90s where rock and pop will have more presence. Great hits as well as lesser-known tracks from Tina Turner’s discography in a show that will be pure energy.

DESCRIPTION:Gnaposs presents his sixth studio album\, “I Don’t Really Give A Shit”. \nGnaposs’ music encompasses a wide amalgam of styles\, but the common thread is Funk. From there\, he adds Rock\, Blues\, Country\, Jazz\, Latin and everything that comes to mind\, achieving a very personal and easily identifiable fusion. \nIn this album\, he takes his concept to the extreme\, reaching limits he had never reached before. The album was recorded by 23 great musicians well recognized in the national scene and co-produced by him and Miguel Pino at La Catacumba Estudio in Barcelona. \nDavid Muñoz “Gnaposs” is a renowned guitarist of the Barcelona scene\, known for accompanying countless artists such as Jarabe de Palo\, Els Pets\, El Niño de la Hipoteca\, Hotel Cochambre\, Los 80 Principales\, Shuarma\, etc. \nIn parallel to his work as an accompanying guitarist\, this artist has 6 albums published since his debut album “Party With Yourself” from 2001\, recorded in Los Angeles\, California\, by the hand of producer TJ Helmerich and with the collaboration by Scott Henderson. \nThe disc is presented live in nonet format. SUMMARY:Giacomo Turra & The Funky Minutes
DESCRIPTION:Giacomo Turra is an Italian musician born in 1997. \nIntrigued by his father’s vinyl records\, Giacomo began playing guitar at age 13\, learning to play his favorite artists including Stevie Wonder\, George Benson and Herbie Hancock. \n In March 2020\, during the pandemic lockdown\, Giacomo started posting videos on his Instagram account\, soon becoming a D’Angelico Guitars Artist and gaining hundreds of thousands of followers. In July 2021\, Giacomo released “The Groove Sessions”\, a Funk and R&B compilation recorded with world-renowned musicians and singers such as Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer\, Phoebe Katis\, Jessica Burdeaux\, George Collins and Augie Bello. On November 12\, 2021\, Giacomo played his first international show at Paradiso in Amsterdam for the Soul Live in front of 2\,500 people. \nIn December 2021\, Matteo Dallape on drums\, Francesco Dallago on bass and Anna Pollinari on vocals and keys joined the project as part of Giacomo Turra’s band. In November 2022\, Giacomo and his band make their first tour in Italy\, with sold-out shows in Milan\, Bologna and Rome.

SUMMARY:Seckou Keita & Momi Maiga
DESCRIPTION:Seckou and Momi share a legacy. Two kora performers from the same family\, share the oral tradition of griots and both have made the journey from Senegal to Europe. Seckou is the older cousin\, 20 years older than Momi\, and has certainly led the way\, offering inspiration and references to Momi’s true talent.  This time\, Seckou and Momi team up as a duo. Charismatic performers in their own right\, together they bring a surprising\, unique and captivating stage magnetism. Seckou Keita has a long professional career that has taken him to play around the world at festivals such as Womad\, Glastonbury\, Tokyo Jazz\, Chicago World Music Festival\, Sydney International\, Montreal Jazz Festival\, among others. To date he has released 13 albums\, the latest of which is African Rhapsodies\, an epic work for kora and orchestra created in collaboration with the Italian composer and musician Davide Mantovani and recorded with the BBC Concert Orchestra in London. Simultaneously he has obtained numerous accolades\, including three Songlines Music Awards\, and several BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards\, including Musician of the Year in 2019. \nMomi Maiga\, recently taking off in her professional career\, released in October 2022 her debut album\, Nio\, which combines ethnic jazz\, flamenco and the sounds of her roots. He fuses the kora with classical instruments such as violin and cello\, and embarks on a journey that leads him to the beginning of a promising musical career\, with his cousin Seckou Keita as a precedent. With a total of 60 concerts performed in 2023 in theaters\, auditoriums and festivals in the state and internationally\, he continues to present his successful debut album and is already preparing his second album for October 2024.

DESCRIPTION:The Howlin’Dogs project revolves around the Work Songs or work songs of the African-American community. Following the tracks of musicologists Alan and John Lomax\, they enter the prison labor camps of the southern United States\, where the working conditions are similar to those suffered by the community in times of slavery. Howlin’Dogs gives a new musical vision to texts that have not lost their validity today\, both because of the timelessness of some themes and because today we can still find very similar situations of labor abuse and poverty.\nHowlin’Dogs has recorded two albums and an EP\, for which they have received very good reviews from the specialized press and have been placed on the annual lists of best albums in media such as Mondosonoro or Rockdeluxe.

DESCRIPTION:The Gramophone Allstars Big Band is a music group that fuses Jamaican music from the sixties (ska\, rocksteady and reggae) with different styles of black music such as soul or jazz among many others. With Barcelona as its nerve center\, and under the baton of Bisbalen saxophonist Genís Bou\, the group has released six albums and performed at the main festivals\, venues and parties in the country\, becoming one of the most consolidated musical projects in the ‘current black music scene. \nBorn in the spring of 2008\, The Gramophone Allstars transformed into a big band with the acclaimed “Jazzmaica” (2014) which was even published in Japan. With the following album “Maraca Soul” (2017) they opened the rhythmic range to other Caribbean sounds such as boogaloo or calypso. \nThey have subsequently published three short albums: “The Reel Influence”\, the single “Let’s Get It On” (version Marvin Gaye) and the EP “Love Letter” (2021). With 150 concerts behind them in big band format\, in 2023 they return with the long-awaited “Call Your Friends”. \n– – – – – – – – – \n \nIt is no exaggeration to say that New Orleans is the birthplace of much of the music we hear today.
