This new album is a profound journey across 7 tracks, where Arp Frique channels his love of organic, funk-based music, filled with dark synths, bubbling basslines, and swirling guitars to deliver a hybrid of old and new that could be described as a mix of P-funk and gospel-disco.
Legendary vocalists abound on this Gospel: Dennis Bovell channels his inner funkadelic on “Look Up Johnny”; diva Muriel Blijd takes a solo on “Father Father”; and long-time harp collaborator Mariseya joins the vocal team throughout the album.
Live on stage, Arp Frique is surrounded by a cosmic gospelfunk family, including legendary Los Angeles-born singer Rocq-E Harrell. In his decades-long career, Rocq-E has sung with many of the greats, providing studio vocals for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, and Earth Wind & Fire. Rocq-E has also toured with Diana Ross and Barry White, to name a few. Arp Frique & The Perpetual Singers have secured support from artists such as Gilles Peterson, Louie Vega, and Moodymann, leading to an energetic start to the live show, as they have performed at We Out Here, Oya, Flow, Way Out West, North Sea Jazz, and many other major festivals across Europe.
